Looking for New Year’s Eve fireworks in the Destin area? You’re in luck, because there are plenty of great options in Destin, Miramar Beach, Okaloosa Island, and nearby spots along the coast.
For 2026, New Year’s Eve falls on Thursday, December 31st, and it’s hard to believe we’ll be ringing in 2027. Whether you’re planning a laid-back evening by the water or heading out for one of the area’s big celebrations, it’s never too early to start thinking about where you want to watch the fireworks.
Destin, Florida transforms into a seaside celebration on New Year’s Eve. Known for sugar-white sand, emerald water, and that classic Gulf Coast energy, Destin also puts on some of the most spectacular fireworks displays in the region.
While Destin has fireworks throughout the year (especially during summer events and harbor celebrations), New Year’s Eve always feels extra special. The shows are bigger, louder, and the perfect way to start the year on a high note.
These colorful, explosive displays have become part of the holiday tradition, and there’s just something about watching the sky light up that makes the new year feel like a fresh start.
New Year’s Eve Fireworks Shows in Destin, Miramar Beach, and Okaloosa Island
Destin and the surrounding beach towns are home to some of the most breathtaking fireworks shows in Florida, and most of them are even better on New Year’s Eve.
Below are the best options in the area to help you choose the perfect fireworks show for New Year’s Eve 2026.
Village of Baytowne Wharf New Year’s Eve Fireworks
The Baytowne Wharf fireworks are set off from a platform along the walkways between the Village and the Baytowne Marina. That setup makes it easy to find great viewing spots throughout the Village.
Fireworks Times: 8pm & Midnight
The 8pm fireworks show at Baytowne Wharf is the regular summer-style length (about 5–6 minutes), but the midnight show is the big one. It’s extended to around 12 minutes and includes an extra launch spot.
The Baytowne Wharf midnight fireworks show is my personal favorite, and it’s usually where you’ll find me on New Year’s Eve. The combination of fireworks from multiple launch spots, synced to top music hits of the year, exploding over the Village lagoon is a spectacular sight.
Baytowne Wharf has also added a lighted drone show to the New Year’s Eve lineup in recent years. Watching the drones form designs over the lagoon (like a swimming dolphin, music notes, and more) is such a fun bonus before the fireworks. They haven’t announced the official 2026 schedule yet, but based on recent years, a drone show is very likely.
Baytowne Wharf has free parking on New Year’s Eve, but it fills up early, so plan to arrive well before 8pm if you want a spot in the garage.
When the Baytowne parking garage fills up, they usually have an overflow lot near the Sandestin welcome center with a free shuttle into the Village. Just allow extra time for that option.
In my opinion, the midnight Baytowne fireworks are worth whatever ordeal you have to endure to get there. And if you arrive early, there are plenty of fun things to do, including ice skating, live music, dining options, zip lining, dueling pianos, an arcade, and kids activities.
That being said, you never know what fireworks visibility will be like anywhere. Humidity, fog, and wind direction can all make a huge difference, and some years the smoke can hang in the air and block parts of the show. It’s always smart to keep weather conditions in mind when you’re choosing where to watch.

Harborwalk Village/Destin Harbor New Year’s Eve Fireworks
The Destin Harbor fireworks are set off from a barge in the East Pass between Harborwalk Village and the West Jetties beach on the Okaloosa Island side of the Destin bridge. Because they’re launched from the water, there are lots of different places you can watch from.
Fireworks Times: 8pm & Midnight
Both Destin Harbor fireworks shows are usually the summer length (about 8–10 minutes each). It’s always a great show. Harborwalk Village usually has free parking on New Year’s Eve (but we never know for sure), unlike the summer season when it can be a $20 charge.
Harborwalk Village is always fun on New Year’s Eve, with plenty of celebrations at the restaurants, many of which have a great fireworks view.
One of my favorite alternative viewing spots is Norriego Point. It’s been newly renovated with dune walkovers, and it’s a beautiful view of them from those. You can also watch from the beach near the swimming holes if you want a more laid-back spot.

Okaloosa Island Boardwalk New Year’s Eve Fireworks
The Boardwalk fireworks are set off at the end of the fishing pier. You can see them from anywhere in the Boardwalk area, including the pier, the beach, and the beach-facing restaurants and bars.
Fireworks Time: 9pm
The Okaloosa Island Boardwalk New Year’s Eve fireworks are typically the regular summer-length show (about 6 minutes). The great thing about this location is that there’s plenty of room to spread out on the beach, or you can watch from the pier to get a little closer.
Parking at the Boardwalk is always free, but get there early because there aren’t a lot of overflow options like there are at Harborwalk Village and Baytowne Wharf. You can also watch from nearby public beach accesses if you’d rather avoid the busiest areas.
