Participating boats typically include area tour boats, dolphin cruise boats, fishing charters, and private vessels decorated in festive lights. At the end of this post, I’ll also share a few options if you’d like to be out on the water during the parade.

Destin Lighted Boat Parade Date and Time

The 2026 Destin Harbor Lighted Boat Parade will take place on Sunday • December 13, 2026, beginning at 6:00 pm. Fireworks will immediately follow the parade.

Lighted Boat Parade Route

The participating boats will travel along Destin Harbor, generally moving from the eastern side of the harbor toward HarborWalk Village and the Destin Bridge/East Pass area.

Best Viewing Spots for the Destin Boat Parade

There are several great places to watch the Destin Harbor Lighted Boat Parade, including HarborWalk Village, the Destin Boardwalk docks, the Destin Bridge, and Norriego Point. Here’s what to know about each location.

Destin Harbor Boat Parade

1. Destin HarborWalk and Boardwalk Docks

Most spectators gather along the docks at HarborWalk Village or further down the Destin Boardwalk. Anywhere along the harbor with an unobstructed view will give you a good look at the decorated boats.

The section in front of Emerald Grande offers one of the closest views since the boats pass fairly near the docks in that area.

2. The Destin Marler Bridge

The Destin Bridge is another excellent option if you don’t mind a short walk. From this elevated viewpoint, you can see the boats approaching before they turn back toward HarborWalk for the fireworks.

It’s a unique angle where you can really appreciate how detailed the decorations are. Many boat crews wave as they pass under the bridge, which adds to the fun.

To watch from the bridge, park at HarborWalk Village and walk up the pedestrian sidewalk. The harbor side of the bridge includes a separated walkway for safety.

Parking policies can vary, but HarborWalk typically does not charge in mid-December. It’s always a good idea to confirm closer to the event.

You can also make an evening of it by enjoying dinner or drinks at HarborWalk before or after the parade.

3. Restaurants with a Boat Parade View

Several waterfront restaurants on Destin Harbor offer great views of the parade if you reserve a table facing the water.

Popular viewing spots include Tailfins (2nd and 3rd floors), AJ’s Seafood (upstairs), Margaritaville (2nd floor dining and LandShark Landing), The Boathouse (limited outdoor seating), and both levels of Harry T’s.

The photo below shows a boat passing Margaritaville, which gives you an idea of how close the action can be from that side.

East Pass Oyster House and Edge Sky Bar also offer elevated views of the harbor.

Boshamps and Marina Cafe provide a slightly more distant view, but that side of the harbor tends to be less crowded. There is also a public dock between Marina Cafe and Boshamps that often allows closer viewing.

4. Norriego Point Public Beach

2026 is the first year that Norriego Point will have a completed boardwalk wrapping around the harbor-facing side, and I’m expecting this to be one of the best places to watch the Destin Harbor Lighted Boat Parade.

In past years, viewing from Norriego meant a long walk through the sand and the boats waving more towards the crowds at Harborwalk Village since almost no one would have made the effort to get to Norriego Point. Now, with the elevated boardwalk and walkovers, it should be a much easier and more comfortable viewing experience with clear harbor views.

This is actually my plan for 2026. I’m looking forward to watching from the boardwalk for both the parade and the fireworks. Being directly across from HarborWalk Village should provide a wide-open view of the decorated boats and the fireworks once the parade wraps up.

5. Christmas Boat Parade Cruise

One of the most memorable ways to experience the Destin Harbor Lighted Boat Parade is to be on the water. Several local tour companies offer special parade and fireworks cruises, and they often sell out early.

Cruisin’ Tikis Destin, Buccaneer Pirate Ship, Southern Star Dolphin Cruise, Boogies Dolphin Cruise, and Destin Snorkel are among the companies that typically participate. I did the Tiki cruise for the 2025 boat parade and it was fun!

Destin Lighted Boat Parade Fireworks

After the final boats pass HarborWalk Village and Norriego Point, fireworks mark the end of the parade.

There is no exact set time since the fireworks begin immediately after the parade concludes. In past years, they have started around 7:30 pm, so expect them sometime shortly after the boats finish.

The view from the Destin Bridge is one of the best for fireworks, as shown above. Norriego Point also offers a strong view, especially if you move toward the side facing HarborWalk once the boats finish passing.

If you’re watching from the bridge, bring a jacket. It can get windy up there, especially in December.
