Looking for the best place to watch the Boardwalk Fireworks at the Okaloosa Island Pier? This post covers everything you need to know, including the full 2026 fireworks schedule and the best viewing spots around the pier and Boardwalk.

The Okaloosa Island Boardwalk fireworks are launched from the end of the fishing pier, exploding over the Gulf of Mexico. You can watch from the beach, the pier, or from any of the beachfront bars and restaurants along the Boardwalk.

The Boardwalk hosts fewer fireworks shows throughout the year than HarborWalk Village and Baytowne Wharf, so don’t miss them when you’re in town. It’s easily one of the best displays on the Emerald Coast.

Where to Watch the Okaloosa Island Boardwalk Fireworks
There are plenty of great places to watch the Okaloosa Island Boardwalk fireworks. Below are the five best spots around the Boardwalk and Pier to help you choose the one that fits your vibe. I’ve included photos from each location to give you an idea of the view.
1. Okaloosa Island Fishing Pier
Watching from the fishing pier is the best choice if you want to be as close as possible to the launch point. It’s an incredible show from out there.
There’s something unforgettable about standing over the Gulf while fireworks burst overhead and reflect on the water. It feels immersive, loud, and exciting in the best way.
Walk as far as they allow (usually just past the lifeguard stand) and it can feel like the fireworks are raining down around you. Arrive early if you want to stand right up front at the rope for a clear, unobstructed view. Any spot on the pier is good though, especially if you prefer a little more space. You can even grab one of the benches if you get there early.

It costs $2 to walk out on the pier, and you’ll receive a stamp that allows you to come and go all day. That means you can enjoy the views and wildlife earlier in the day and return later for the fireworks.
2. Okaloosa Island Boardwalk Public Beach
The beach on either side of the pier offers a fantastic view with the added bonus of relaxing in your beach chair or on a blanket while you watch.
There’s nothing quite like sitting on the cool sand as the waves roll in and the sky lights up over the Gulf. It’s a more laid-back way to enjoy the show.

Almost anywhere along the Boardwalk beach area gives you a good view. A smart way to choose your side is to check the wind direction on your weather app.
If the wind is blowing from east to west, set up on the east side of the pier. If it’s blowing from west to east, choose the west side. You want the smoke drifting away from you, not toward you.

It can feel confusing at first, but think of it like sitting around a campfire. You always move to the side where the smoke isn’t blowing in your face. Same idea here.
3. Boardwalk Bars and Restaurants
Most of the restaurants and bars along the Boardwalk offer a great view if you’d rather enjoy drinks or dinner during the show. Watching fireworks from a beachfront table can easily become a favorite vacation memory.

Some of the best views are from Angler’s Beachside Grill at the base of the pier and Rockin’ Tacos on the upper-level outdoor deck.

The Crab Trap, Al’s Beach Club & Burger Bar, and any restaurant with a clear view of the pier are also solid choices.
4. Tripp Tide Beach Bar at The Island Resort
Tripp Tide Beach Bar is part of The Island Resort on Okaloosa Island and is such a fun spot for drinks, live music, and a great fireworks view.

There’s plenty of seating at the bar and along the railing, plus patio tables where you can watch comfortably. When the fireworks begin, you can also step directly onto the beach right in front of the bar.

5. Okaloosa Island Public Beach Access #1, #2, & #3
If you’d like a slightly quieter option away from the main Boardwalk crowds, try one of the Okaloosa Island public beach access points. Beach Access #1, #2, and #3 all offer a nice view of the fireworks.

Just don’t linger too long after the show ends if you watch from one of these public beach spots because the parking lots close shortly after the fireworks. The signs say sunset, but during summer they typically allow parking until the show finishes.
That sums up the best places to watch the Okaloosa Island Fireworks. Below is the full 2026 schedule so you can plan your visit!

The Okaloosa Island Boardwalk only hosts fireworks on Wednesdays during summer and select holidays. There is not a July 4th show unless July 4th falls on a Wednesday. Every year people gather at the Boardwalk expecting a July 4th display, but the City of Fort Walton Beach hosts their Independence Day fireworks at a different location. Can I see the Okaloosa pier fireworks from El Matador resort?
You will see them but they will be small from there. It’s pretty far. I would get down to the pier or one of the public beaches closer to the pier
Can you see fire works from (600 Gulf Shore Dr, Destin, FL 32541) on 4th of July?
You can’t see any 4th of July fireworks from there but you could go down to Norriego Point (the end of Gulf Shore Drive) and watch them from the beach there. It’s paid parking there though and a bit far to walk. Plus a long walk to the sand. Alternatively, you could walk the beach along the water to the jetties (you can see them from Destin on the Gulf) and see them from there, although they will be distant. If you are there for the Thursday night show, those are taller so you can see them better from the jetties. Hope that makes sense. Have fun!
Will the Okaloosa Island Broadwalk fireworks be on Wednesday or Thursday in 2024?
Ki Kelly, they will be on Wednesdays starting May 31st. There’s also one special show on the Sunday nefore that. Harborwalk Village will have the Thursday night fireworks
