Destin Beach Cameras are the best way to get an accurate look at beach and water conditions in the area since they change day-to-day and minute-to-minute. I check the live beach webcams in Destin, Okaloosa Island, Miramar Beach, and Sandestin almost daily and in this post I will share my favorite ones with you.
Maybe you want to check the beach cameras to get excited about your upcoming vacation or you want to look at different areas to see where you like best. Watching people enjoying a day at the beach on the Emerald Coast is a great way to prepare for a visit!
You might also want to check the beach conditions before you go since water color, clarity, surf height, and beach conditions change every day. Watching Destin beach cameras will help you know what to expect before you go.
I check the live Beach Webcams for Okaloosa Island, Destin, and Miramar Beach beach before I go out to take pictures or enjoy a beach day. It helps me decide which beach to go to since conditions can vary even just 10 miles away.
Some Destin beach cameras are better than others and I have found myself spending a lot of time searching in the past for the most reliable ones with the best view. Bad image quality or the cameras not working consistently are the biggest issues I find with many of them.
Another thing I don’t like is when the webcams are on the ground level and you can’t see the water over the chairs. I have also found that some say they are live when they actually aren’t which is frustrating when you realize it.
This post will save you that search time and frustration by giving you my Top 5 Live Beach Webcams in Destin, Miramar Beach and Okaloosa Island. These are the 5 Webcams I check when I need to see what the beaches look like on the 16 mile stretch from Okaloosa Island to Destin to Miramar Beach.
As you can see from the photo below, these Destin beach cameras are spaced out pretty evenly on this stretch of beach to give you a good assortment of webcam views. The numbers on the map refer to the numbered sections of this post so you know which camera is where.
I suggest bookmarking this page for future use that way you can access all these through a single page instead of 5 different ones. Also, if any of these break or if better ones come out, I will update this page with the new links. So this page will always be a resource to find the best Destin Beach webcams to check.
1. Okaloosa Island Boardwalk Beach and Pier Live Webcam
This live beach camera is my favorite for checking conditions on Okaloosa Island beach and pier. This is the largest public beach area on Okaloosa Island located at the Boardwalk.
The company hosting this live webcam has several live beach cameras in the Destin area but less than half of them seem to work reliably and some of the angles and quality aren’t the best. This camera at the Crab Trap Restaurant is a good one though and you can control it to look left down the beach or right towards the pier. But if it’s not working for you, I gave another Okaloosa Island live camera option below it.
When you open the page, click “Go LIVE” on the video. You can then press control and depending how many people are using it, at some point you will get a list of camera positions to choose from.
I check this camera a lot during storms or high surf to see if there are surfers out in the water or people walking on the pier. And sometimes I want to go to this beach so I can get pictures from the fishing pier but I check to see how clear the water is first before planning to go out there for wildlife photos.
If the Crab Trap camera is not working for you, here’s another one you can check from the Wyndham Garden on Okaloosa Island. This camera has a great view but it’s a bit west of the pier so you can’t quite see it. It moves angles though so keep watching for different views.
2. Back Porch in Destin Live Webcam
The Back Porch Restaurant in Destin sits on a beautiful corner of beach off the main Highway 98 in Destin. The beach in front of the restaurant isn’t always the best place to set up because they have their own chair rentals in summer, but there are two other public beaches that share the parking lot with them.
June Decker Public Beach is park and large grassy lawn with walkovers leading to the beach. There are also some playground areas here for the kids. Silver Shells public beach is also in the same parking lot and has restrooms and outdoor showers.
So if you like the conditions here at the Back Porch, head that way. This is a popular parking lot and it fills up so arrive early to get a spot.
3. Henderson Park Inn Beach in Destin Live Webcam
This next live Destin beach camera is located at the Henderson Park Inn looking down on their private beach. Even though this is a private beach only for Henderson guests, it is right next door to Henderson Beach State Park which is a public area.
Many people choose Henderson Beach state park for a beach day because it’s a beautiful stretch of beach without condos or rental chairs and there are picnic pavilions and a nature trail and grills. If you are planning to go to Henderson Beach State Park or anywhere nearby, this would be the closest beach camera to check for conditions.
If you watch this one in the evenings in summer you will probably notice some people dining on the beach with a table directly set up in the sand. This is the “Toes in the Sand” dinner from Beachwalk Cafe located inside Henderson Park Inn. It’s a pricey experience but worth it for a special occasion.
If you aren’t sure how to get to Henderson Beach State Park or want to see more pictures, I put detailed instructions and more information in this post: Find your Perfect Beach: A Guide to all 13 Public Beaches in Destin
I like this Destin webcam because it is highly elevated and pointed straight down at the water. This section of the beach does not have very many chairs either so you can get a good look at the sand and water’s edge.
This live webcam is on YouTube so I was able to directly embed it in here but be careful looking for Destin beach cameras on YouTube because a lot of them say live but they actually aren’t. Sometimes that apparently means that it was live when they took the video. This one is truly live though.
4. Miramar Beach Live Webcam at Majestic Sun
This is the sharpest and best quality live beach webcam on my list. It is located on Scenic Highway 98 in Miramar Beach near Majestic Sun condos and the Whales Tail Restaurant.
Miramar Beach water conditions can vary quite a bit from Destin and Okaloosa Island so this one is a good one to check if you are thinking of heading further east for your beach day.
This Miramar Beach camera is pointed on a private beach area but it is very close to the public beach access points all around the Whales Tail. This is a good beach camera to check if you are trying to see the beaches anywhere the eastern section of Scenic Highway 98 from Crystal Beach to Miramar Beach.
5. Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort Live Webcam
Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort is located on the most eastern part of Miramar Beach–almost to Santa Rosa Beach. This is a private beach area only for Sandestin guests but it is still a great reference for Santa Rosa beach or Miramar Beach.
What I like about this live beach camera is you can clearly see the flag color so I usually check this one if I want to see if it’s a yellow, red or double red flag day. Unlike beach conditions, the flag conditions will stay pretty consistent along this stretch of beaches because rip currents and high surf will normally affect all these areas the same.
*Sometimes the Sandestin cameras take longer to load. There are probably a lot of people watching them
This is the best live beach webcam to check if you are staying anywhere on or near Sandestin Resort Property but it’s also the closest beach webcam to Topsail State Park Beach.
Best Destin Harbor Live Webcams
I will also add my favorite Destin Harbor Live Webcams in case you need those too. If the beach looks too rough you can check these to see how Norriego Point and Crab Island look.
Emerald Grande Live Harbor and Crab Island Camera
This is the closest live webcam I have seen for checking how Crab Island looks. It’s still a little bit distant but you can see if it’s crowded with boats and the water color. This camera is also good for seeing how the boat traffic is on Destin Harbor and the traffic going across the bridge.
The second camera down on this page is the one I look at the most to see Crab Island, Destin Bridge, and the east side of Norriego Point.
If you are not sure how to get to Norriego Point public beach or need help finding any of the public beach areas in Destin, I put detailed instructions and more information in this post: Find your Perfect Beach: A Guide to all 13 Public Beaches in Destin
